Enough

I am withdrawing from the competition. I have been worried for my safety on every flight in this competition so far.

This morning I looked at the glider on the launch grid and just didn't want to get in.

Maybe a bit soft but I think those who have flown with poor visibility at such low altitudes in such crowded skies (including a few maniacs) may understand.

  1. It is about time some one took a stand. I hope you will make your opinion heard and you get more pilots do the same thing. It is just another accident waiting to happen.

    Good luck

  2. If it's half as bad as Slovakia, (and it sounds much worse) it's an easy decision to understand. Let's hope that some lessons are learned from all of the accidents in 2010, and that there aren't any more before this competition ends.
    All the best.

  3. Hi Graham,
You should feel very comfortable with that decision. The whole deal looks to be very difficult, and we're on the other side of the world!
    Total support.

  5. G'day mate, I know that you would not have made this decision lightly and safety has always got to be first priority.

  6. Hi Sexy,
Hard decision to make but your safety comes first. You can't fly (especially in a World Comp) when your mind is not in the right place. Will speak again tonight.

I just read your comments to Mum and she said "very wise - be safe always" ... hear hear!

Enjoy the rest of your stay - don't come back too soon though because Port have taken advantage of your absence to notch up 2 wins!

  12. Graham, as some who once got himself in a spot of bother in a land far, far, away, I appreciate and applaud your decision. There is not enough upside in winning a contest to find the craziest pilot in the world.
